Take that!! Homophobes!!!
Twenty-seven states have voted to amend their state constitution to ban same sex and heterosexual domestic partnerships and define a marriage as a union between one man and one woman.
Arizona. MY state voted to say SCREW THAT. The vote was a narrow 51% to 48% percent but the proposition to amend the state's constitution was DEFEATED!
Government should be kept out of our homes and out of our bedrooms and should serve as the power that assures legal protection for all people regardless of race, sex, origin, religion, and sexual preference.
If this prop had passed, all state, county, and city government agencies would have been prohibited from granting any health, retirement, or survivor benefits to BOTH gay AND heterosexual couples who decided that marriage, as the religious right wants to define it, is not for them.
I am always proud to be Arizonan. Now I am proud OF Arizona. We now stand as a state where progressive thinkers, at least on this subject, are the majority.
