Italy 1
The US played like they should play finally and came out with a draw. Italy scored on itself and then scored a second goal that was disallowed on and offside call. I thought the man was onside and that Italy got robbed. The US scored a second goal that was disallowed on an offside call that I thought was the correct call. Eddie Pope played like a goon and was deservedly asked to leave by the referee after committing a second foul that deserved a yellow card. He was shown the second yellow which means you get to see the red card, and the door.
Smelly Danielley elbowed a US player in the face and was immediately tossed out. I never expected that from the cute girl with the awesome bikini beach picture but cute girls play rough sometimes.
A second US player was tossed after a two footed slide into the ankle of an Italian player. It was rather harsh but a play like that can end up being career ending. I had fun listening to the American commentators since this game was on the ABC network. The guy was crying like a little girl saying that the referee should "talk" to the players and tell them when they're stepping over the line and THEN start showing cards afterwards. I say bullshit. These are supposed to be the top players in the world. They know the rules and the tricks. If you slide into a player's ankles you need to get carded. Part of what the referee does is ensure that the play does not deteriorate to the point where players risk injury unnecessarily.
Bottom line. The US has one loss and one tie and has yet to score any goals.
(the best part of that pic is that the kid is missing a tooth)
