At the far south end of the eclectic section of Tucson's 4th avenue you find The Shanty. It's been open since 1937 and would be my selection of the venue to host the group of bloggers that gathered in Vancouver. Irish bar but not silly copy of trendy Irish "pubs" in the U.S.. Copper trim inside with a brass foot rail at the bar and large classic nudes on the walls. The BEST bar patio in all of Southern Arizona. If your musical tastes range from jazz to Tom Waits this would be your bar in Tucson.

If you ever blow through town with a day to kill you must hit 4th ave. Remember Speedway as your cross street and you'll find the section of liberal-thinking-organic-food-eating Tucson. A short walk from my recommended hotel http://hotcong.com if you're staying the night.
